Technology Development Plan
This section defines the physical asset plans and goals for technology management within the Pioneer School System. All plans are in line with Pioneer School District’s 5-Year Plan and school policies. Plans are written with consideration as to the available facilities and infrastructure, including the physical boundaries and limitations of the school’s configuration. The following goals are prioritized to maximize efficiency and learning and are addressed on a yearly basis.
1. Goals
a.
Immediate goals (to be accomplished within the first 2 months of each
school year)
- Update the technology inventory currently in use at Pioneer School. See Appendix B
Technologies to include: computers, printers, software, televisions, VCR’s, cameras, telephones, scanners, projection equipment, audio systems and other multimedia equipment, and new technologies as appropriate. - Conduct a survey of teacher and administration requests for technology equipment, supplies and professional development that can be immediately introduced into current year curriculum using TAGLIT and other assessment tools.
- Determine needed services for maintenance of network, website, hardware and software and facility upkeep based on need’s assessments.
- Review community survey to find out what technology is available and/or being used by students in the home.
- Revise and update the Technology Plan to reflect new goals for the current year.
- Assess current equipment to be sure all is in good running order prior to the start of school for the year. Make adjustments and repairs as needed.
b) Short-Term Goals (to be accomplished within the current school
year-updated annually)
- Continue to develop web site content and structure.
- Purchase new VCR/DVD for Kindergarten.
- Update computers and operating systems, as necessary.
(1) 5 laptops for teacher use
(2) 10 desktops: replace outdated teacher computers, library and some for student use in upper grades. - Purchase new software to enhance curriculum content and develop/reinforce skills
(1) Currently looking to upgrade to Office 2007 on teacher and upper grade computers.
c) Long-Term Goals (ongoing, to be continued from one year to the next or
accomplished over a period of time longer than one school year)
- Re-evaluate the standings on Technology tools and current technology trends with in the community, annually.
- Evaluate what will be required to meet the curriculum guide lines during the curriculum planning process.
- Continue to develop the website, add to and upgrade features as necessary.
- Encourage community use of the Pioneer School website (www.pioneerschool.us)
- Acquire more computers for classrooms as space and finances allow.
- Continue to participate in the TAGLIT school technology assessment program.
- Purchase software licenses to update all computers to Office 2007.
- Consider necessity and viability for cable TV or other paid programming for educational purposes.
Note: The Technology Committee is mindful of these goals as they plan for the future needs and direct the course of the school’s technology education program.
