Summer News from Mrs. Russell
I hope that you all fill your summer with many awesome family memories of fun and sun! Now…in with all that fun in the sun please don't forget the need to read if we are going to succeed! I would be very happy to suggest books and reading activities to help your child maintain or improve their reading levels over the summer. It would be fantastic and such a confidence booster to return in the fall at a higher reading level than their level in May! Remember that summer is a bridge to the next grade in the fall and the perfect opportunity to ‘set them up' for success!
Reading is such an important gift we can give to our children. It is a gift that will impact their future academic success, confidence, and joy in life! Let's work together to give this gift of a lifetime!
Your students have made so many gains on their journey to becoming more proficient readers and they have had so much fun along the way! Our Accelerated Reader Enterprise program has been a 'complete hit' for our students! They absolutely LOVE being able to bring books from home and test! Immediate and positive reinforcement…what a motivator!
Our May Accelerated Reader store was beyond fantastic! The students have been planning, saving, and visiting with me about this store! It was a resounding success! Mrs. Palmieri spent hours helping to shop for the items, price them, set up the store and help me run the store for the students! Many thanks to P.T.A. for supporting our Accelerated Reader program and store! Many thanks to the parents who donated items for the store too! I am so grateful for our P.T.A., parents, and everyone who helps make this program such a success!
The Huntley Masonic Lodge again sponsored the annual Bikes for Books contest! The students look forward to this contest and take part with glee and anticipation! We had oodles and oodles of entries again this year! I am so thrilled for our winners!
