Dear Parents and Families,
A special thank you to all who helped and attended our Spring Carnival!!
Can you believe we have only 19 days left of school??
This has been a fabulous year!! I have seen so much growth in both academics and maturity. I feel most of my 2nd graders are ready to face the challenges and adventures of 3rd grade!! Thank you so much for your support over these past two years. I am looking forward to working with my new group of 1st/2nd graders for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year!
A special thanks to Skelly Adkins for bringing the ingredients for making Ice Cream in a Bag; and to Brad Zink for making Straw Rockets with the class.
Writing: We've completed our cursive handwriting book! Now as the students begin to write, they can develop their own writing style.
Grammar: A review of adjectives, adverbs, nouns and verbs.
Reading: We completed an extensive study of Cinderella, from all over the world. The students compared the main characters, settings, point of origin, and endings for over 10 versions of the story. Then using what they know they created posters about what they learned.
Social Studies: We're working on symbols of the USA.
Math: We are now into the heart of multiplication. We have been working on the 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's and are learning the 6's. We continue to work on borrowing, money and telling time to the minute.
ART: Had a wonderful time with the traveling artist, Jennifer, from Helena. She showed us various art mediums of nature in art. Students then took what they learned and created their own master piece.
A.R. Goals: the 2nd graders are working on their goals (an additional 10 points). Those who earn their goals this quarter will be treated to root beer floats on Tuesday May 22.
