Teaching has always been my choice of what I’d do with my life. As early as elementary school, I had this career chosen. I have found that I didn’t make the wrong choice, and teaching is where I belong!
One of the first things you should know about me is that I am a Pioneer School graduate! Yes, I attended here back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. At that time, Pioneer had grades 1st – 8th. I was here for all of those years. I also graduated from Shepherd High School in 1990. After graduation I attended Miles Community College, where I played volleyball for two years, then moved back to Billings and attended Montana State University. I earned a degree in elementary education and art. In July, 2008, I completed my Masters' Degree in Administration through the University of Phoenix.
I have been at Pioneer School for 16 years. My first years were teaching Title One, Gifted and Art. In 1999, I took the job of teaching Kindergarten as well as Gifted and Art. At the completion of that year, I took the job in the fifth and sixth grade room. And even though I enjoyed teaching Kindergarten, I realized that this age group was what I wanted. I’ve enjoyed the past ten years in this classroom, immensely.
My husband, Mike, and I have one child. His name is Alec. He has become our main focus in our life as well. He attends every event possible here at Pioneer School, and loves our annual school carnival! My family loves to camp in the summer, enjoying the outdoors as much as possible. We are very active in sports and continue to do as much as possible as a family on and off the field and court! Alec has started to find his own sports of interest and we enjoy spending time watching and coaching him as well.
The Carnival is one of my favorite events of the year. I also enjoy running the Science Fair every March. But one of my favorite things about Pioneer School is the fact that we are so small. As teachers we get to know each and every parent very personally, and the parents feel welcome in our classroom and school at any time.
